The nine cutting hands, or the Kuji-Kiri are symbolic hand gestures found in some ancient Japanese religions. They are also closely linked with some schools of Ninja Training or Ninjutsu, and in this exciting video Master David Haliva 6th Dan Koga Ryu Ninjitsu show us his personal interpretation in combat.
Black belt in 6 Different arts including Ninjitsu, Troy Macraft gives us a fascinating insight into this ancient Japanese weapon, the Sai.
“Sai are a traditional martial arts weapon. They are comprised of a pointed prong attached to a handle. On either side of the prong are curved, un-sharpened projections. The middle prong of a Sai usually has a round cross-section, but some are octagonal. Sai are used in sets of two and can be used as either an offensive or defensive weapon. As a defensive weapon, Sai are used to block or catching an attacker's weapon, particularly swords.”
